Above the screen we find the ear piece speaker, the proximity and light sensors and a status LED. Below the screen it has three physical buttons: menu, home and back. The left side of the phone is bare while the right side has a shutter button and the volume keys. At the top it has the power button which is very small, the microUSB jack and the 3.5mm jack.

The display has 3.0 inches. It has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and a pixel density of 192ppi. It has a scratch resistant screen. The brightness and contrast are good. Viewing angles are good too but the sun light legibility is poor. The phone weighs 104 grams and measures 99 x 54 x 15mm.

Internal storage has 128 Mb and it can be extended up to 16 GB through a microSD card. The RAM memory has 168 Mb and helps the Adreno 200 GPU.  The 600 MHz ARM 11 processor is based on the Qualcomm  MSM7227 chipset. The phone has accelerometer, compass, proximity and light sensors.

At connectivity the Xperia X8 has EDGE speed up to 236 Kbps, HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA up to 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi b/g standards, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and a microUSB 2.0 slot. The browser doesn’t have Adobe Flash support but it work very good; columns of text adjust to fit the screen and it supports reflow.

The 3MP camera has fixed focus and no LED flash. The pictures quality isn’t so good because of the aggressive noise reduction which smudges the detail. Also the white balance could have been better. The recorded videos have a VGA resolution at 30 fps. The best feature that the camera has is geo-tagging.

The Xperia X8 comes in five different colors: white, dark blue & white, aqua blue & white, pink & white, silver & white.

The 1200 mAh battery offers a standby time of 476 hours and 5 hours and 40 minutes in talk time. The phone can play music up to 23 hours.

In conclusion the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a smartphone for any pockets literally and figuratively. It has a good price and its dimensions aren’t too big. Check good deals for it and other phones on www.mobilephonedeals.com.
