Above the screen there is the proximity sensor and the ear piece speaker. Under the screen there are three hardware buttons: menu, home and back. On the right side we find the power button and the microSD card slot. On the left side is only the volume rocker. At the top we find the 3.5mm (it has DNSe sound enhancement) jack and under a plastic lid there is the microUSB port.

The 3.14 inches display supports multitouch. It has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and a pixel density of 127ppi. The displayed colors are fine and the contrast is good but you have to accept the low resolution because it is a low-end smartphone. The phone measures 110.4 x 60.8 x 12.1mm and weighs 105 grams.

The Galaxy Mini has a 3MP camera with fixed focus and no LED flash. It has geo-tagging, smile shot, preset scenes and panorama mode. For a 3MP camera the pictures are decent, with low noise levels and decent details.

Jumping to connectivity we see that it has a microUSB 2.0 slot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, Wi-Fi with b/g/n standards, Wi-Fi Hotspot and 3G HSDPA speed up to 7.2 Mbps. The browser works fine but you will have problems with the screen size which is not adequate for browsing.

The processor is powered by Android v2.3 Gingerbread and it is based on the Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset. The graphics processing unit is the Adreno 200 and it is helped by 384 Mb of RAM memory. Internal memory has only 160 Mb but it can be extended up to 32 GB through a microSD card. The phone has compass, accelerometer and proximity sensors.

The 1200 mAh battery offers good life to the phone. With moderate usage the phone can last for two days. In these two days you can use Wi-Fi connection, take some pictures, play music, download some apps and make calls.

The Samsung Galaxy Mini is perfect for smartphone newbies and it is a good option if you don’t want to spend too much money on a smartphone. Check good deals got it and other phones on www.mobilephonedeals.com.
