Above the screen it has only the ear piece speaker. Under the screen there is a multitude of buttons; it has a tactile D-pad and under it the call keys. On each side of the D-pad there are the typical Android buttons: menu, home, back and search. On the left side of the phone we find the volume keys and the microUSB port while the right side is completely bare.
The TFT capacitive display has 16 million colors. It has a QVGA resolution of 230 x 320 pixels and a pixel density of 143ppi. The image quality isn’t impressive but for a low budget smartphone is ok. The narrow viewing angle is the main disadvantage. Indoor the display quality is quite good though. The phone measures 108 x 56 x 12.3mm and weighs 102 grams.
From the 2MP camera we don’t need to have to high expectations. As features it has geo-tagging, face and smile detection, panorama and burst mode. You can use the D-pad as a shutter key. Contrast and color rendering are good but the noise reduction is too aggressive. The phone can record QVGA video at 15 fps.
At connectivity it has 2G EDGE speed up to 236 Kbps, 3G HSDPA speed up to 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi with b/g/n standards, DLNA, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and a microUSB v2.0 slot. The browser is great but is limited by the screen.
The Galaxy Europa is powered by Android v2.2 Froyo. This is the last updated received for the phone. It has a 600 MHz ARM11 processor based on the Qualcomm MSM7227-1 chipset. The Adreno 200 GPU is helped by 256 Mb of RAM memory. Internal storage has 184 Mb and it can be extended up to 32 GB through a microSD card. The phone has accelerometer and proximity sensors.
The battery has 1200 mAh. It can last for 520 hours in standby and nine hours and a half in talk time. In a day by day normal use it can go up to 2 days of use thanks to the small screen.
