Huawei Blaze review

Huawei Blaze

The Huawei u8510 Blaze was released in July 2011. It is one of the most sold Android phones from Huawei. It looks like a HTC smartphone with its rounded corners and with the home button underneath the touch sensitive controls.

It measures 110 x 56.5 x 11.2mm and it weighs 104 grams. The metal band that surrounds the Home button goes all around the phone. This gives the phone an expensive look. On the top it has the 3.5mm jack, the power button and on top of the screen the secondary camera and the proximity sensor. The right side of the phone shows us the volume keys. On the back we can find the camera with the logos from Google and Huawei. The battery panel is made from plastic covered with a black mat rubber material. It feels good in the hand and it offers a good hand grip. It competes at quality built and hardware with the LG Optimus One and HTC Wildfire S.

The display has 3.2 inches which supports a resolution of 320×480 pixels and a pixel density of 180ppi. It is bright and easy to use outdoor even in sun light. The touch sensitive controls aren’t so responsive and sometimes you have to press twice to get a response. It supports multitouch. Huawei made their own user interface; it is something between the stock Gingerbread and the HTC Sense.

The Blaze has a 3.2 MP camera sensor which takes pictures at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It doesn’t have too many features and it has the default Android interface; it has geo-tagging and autofocus. Video recording is made at 480p with 19 fps and the secondary camera has a VGA resolution. In good light it takes nice pictures but if you don’t have enough light it doesn’t take good pictures; even indoor you will need good light.

It has an average connectivity features: 3G HSDPA and HSUPA speeds, Wi-Fi with b/g/n standards and Hotspot, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP + EDR and microUSB 2.0 slot. The browser has Adobe Flash support; a thing which not many budget smartphone have.

The battery has 1200 mAh. You would thing the Huawei Blaze will have a good battery life because it has a low hardware configuration but it struggles to pass the one day limit. Maybe if you’ll use it only for SMS and calls it will stay on more time.

On the hardware part it has a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset on which is based the 600 MHz processor and the Adreno 200 GPU. The amount of RAM and ROM memory is 256 Mb respectively 512 Mb. It has compass, accelerometer, light and proximity sensors. It comes with JAVA MIDP emulator and GPS with A-GPS support. Three colors are available:  black, silver and red.

The Huawei Blaze is a good choice if you are in a thigh budget. It has a nice design and good features for a budget smartphone and it is a good competitor. Check for deals with the Blaze and other phones on
