Let’s start talking about its specifications. The LED-backlit display has a 4 inches diagonal. It has a pixel density of 245ppi and supports multitouch and a resolution of 480×854 pixels. When you slide the screen you will see that is has touch sensitive gaming buttons and PSP like gaming buttons.

The OS is Android version 2.3.4 Gingerbread. It is planned to update the OS to version 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich. The 1 GHz Scorpion processor and the Adreno 205 GPU are based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset and they are helped by 512Mb of RAM memory. The internal memory has only 400Mb but you can add a microSD card up to 32GB and move the apps on the SD. The phone comes with an 8GB card included.

From this specs I can say you will have a nice gaming experience thanks to the display with is good pixel density and to its good hardware configuration. Also, I said earlier, the games are optimized for this configuration.

The 5MP camera is good. It takes decent pictures and it has autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging and image stabilization. The videos recorded with Xperia Play have 720p resolution. Very well for a gaming phone. It also has a secondary VGA camera.

For connectivity it has a microUSB slot with USB on-the-go support, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP + EDR. At wireless connectivity it has wi-fi with b/g/n protocols, DLNA, Wi-Fi Hotspot and data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA.

The battery could have been bigger because for what was this phone designed you will need more energy. It has 1500 mAh and it can last about 9 hours of intense gaming and with Wi-Fi/3G on. With a moderate use it can reach one day of usage.
