Launched in January 2012 the LG Prada 3.0 comes to be a high end fashion phone. Looking at photos with it on the internet doesn’t impress too much but when you take it in your hand you will remain impressed in a good way. In brief the LG Prada is an elegant smartphone and quite performant. When it comes to elegance the designers from Prada scored decisive.
Under the hood the phone comes packed with TI OMAP 4430 chipset made by Texas Instruments which includes a powerful dual core Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1 GHz and the PowerVR SGX540 GPU. All of these are helped by 1GB of RAM memory. Internal storage has 8GB and it can be expanded with a microSD card up to 32 GB.
In terms of wireless connectivity the LG Prada 3.0 has 3G HSDPA speeds up to 21 Mbps, HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps, wi-fi with b/g/n protocols, wi-fi Direct, wi-fi Hotspot and DLNA; Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP + EDR and NFC. The GPS with A-GPS support, FM radio and accelerometer, compass and proximity sensors could not miss.
The Android OS is version 2.3.7 Gingerbread but it can be upgraded to v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The user interface is customized in a black & white design. The icons and text are white and the background is black. The browsing experience is pleasant and you don’t need to install another browser because the preinstalled one works perfectly. I have to say that it has HTML5 and Adobe Flash support. As other features that this phone has, we can enumerate: a dedicated microphone for active noise cancellation, TV-out (via MHL A/V link) and TV tuner (but only for Korean version).
The phone has a 4.3 inches IPS display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels and a pixel density of 217ppi. The display supports multitouch and it is very bright in sun light conditions. The phone is almost as big as the Galaxy S2; it has 127.5x69x8.5mm and weighs a little too much for a fashion phone, 138g. I expected to weigh less.
Going to the camera we find an 8MP sensor with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, visual effects, exposure options, touch focus and white balance. The camera is capable of shooting 1080 HD videos at 30 fps. A 1.3MP secondary camera is present too.
The battery has 1540 mAh but it can hardly manage to stay alive for almost two days of normal use with data traffic always on, voice calls, music, games etc. But for a 4.3 inches display is good.
Overall the LG Prada 3.0 is a handsome fashion smartphone; it doesn’t cost too much, and has an interface which catches eyes with the black & white contrast. Knowing what luxury phones are on the market now, I consider that the Prada 3.0 is one of the best. Search for it on www.mobilephonedeals.com if you want an elegant phone and you have a Prada suit, Prada purse or any product from this company. It would be a shame not to assort this phone too.
