The Nokia Lumia 610 was launched in April 2012 and is the first Windows Phone smartphone with a processor under 1 GHz.
It looks better than the Lumia 710 but has lower hardware performance. A silver metal band is surrounding its edge all around. Its back panel is made from plastic and it has a glossy look. You wouldn’t say it’s a low budget phone, it gives a quality feeling. It weighs 131g and measures 119x62x12mm.
Generally a budget smartphone comes with a resolution of 320×480 pixels and with a maximum 3.5 inches screen. But the Lumia 610 comes with a capacitive 3.7 inches display protected by a Gorilla Glass screen. It supports multitouch, a resolution of 480×800 pixels and a pixel density of 252ppi. This is astonishing for a low-end smartphone.
The Lumia 610 has a good internet browsing which runs the same as other Windows Phone smartphones. I think the Lumia 610 offers a better browsing experience than the Optimus Sol. Data traffic made through 2G EDGE has a speed of 236 Kbps. In 3G mode HSDPA speed goes up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76 Mbps. Wi-Fi connection can be made through b/g/n protocols, blutooth is v2.1 with A2DP + EDR and the usb connection is made through a microUSB 2.0 slot.
The phone has a Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon chipset with a single core ARM Cortex-A5 processor at 800 MHz and 256Mb of RAM. An Adreno 200 GPU helps the phone in games and videos. Internal storage has 8GB but it can’t be expanded. Accelerometer, compass and proximity sensors are present on the phone.
The Lumia 610 comes with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. The OS runs smoth through the menus and has no lag. It attracts you with its fluidity and originality. In some benchmarks Lumia 610 has better results than Optimus L7.
The camera is not too equipped. It has 5MP sensor with LED flash, autofocus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection and a dedicated camera button. Video recording is VGA at 30 fps.
Battery life is quite impressive for a 1300 mAh battery. It can reach almost 2 days of moderate use without too much Wi-Fi or 3G connections and games.
The Lumia 610 comes in four different colors: white, black, cyan and magenta. It has a dedicated microphone for active noise cancellation, stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support and supports only microSIM.
The Nokia Lumia 610 is trying to offer a pleasant experience on a Windows Phone platform and at a reasonable price. Camera and video recording aren’t impressive and if you have a bigger request for the phone it will be a little bit tricky. But it has a good battery life and good quality sound for music and calls. Overall the Lumia 610 is an elegant smartphone and perfect for a first time use of Windows Phone.
