The Sony Xperia S is the first phone launched by Sony Mobile after they split up with Ericsson. As we are used, Sony has come with a phone that has a high performance camera. Its hardware configuration is high too.
The thing I like most at the Xperia S is the exterior design. In my opinion is the most beautiful smartphone. You realize from the first touch it’s a robust phone with premium equipment and high quality materials. Its curved back reminds us about the old Xperia family. A good thing for the Xperia S is the shutter button.
The 4.3 inches display is quite easy to maneuver, you can use it with only one hand. It supports a HD resolution of 720×1080 pixels and has 342ppi pixel density; it is an LCD display with LED backlit. Its screen is scratch resistant but is not Gorilla Glass. The display has Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, Timescape UI and supports multitouch up to 10 fingers.
Looking under the hood we find a dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor which has 1.5 MHz, 1GB RAM memory and Adreno 220 GPU. The Xperia S is extremely fast and runs everything you want. Its internal storage has 32GB and it can’t be expanded with no microSD card.
Xperia S has DLNA technology and you can transfer photos to a SmartTV. Mobile data connections have HSDPA of 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA of 5.8 Mbps. Wi-Fi has b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and Hotspot. Bluetooth is v2.1 with A2DP + EDR. The microUSB 2.0 has USB on-the-go support.
The camera has good performance; it has 12MP with Exmor R sensor. It takes very good photos even in low light conditions. Other camera features are: LED flash, image stabilization, face and smile detection, touch focus and 3D sweep panorama. The settings menu has many options with which you can play. Using the shutter button when the phone is in standby you can take a photo in 2 seconds. Video recording is made at 30 fps and at a resolution up to 1080p. It has a front secondary camera of 1.3MP which has HD resolutionof 720p and 30 fps.
Let’s specify the other features of the phone. It has GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS, stereo FM radio with RDS, microSIM support only, TV launcher, HDMI with a microHDMI port, active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone and TrackID music recognition.
The battery from the Xperia S has 1750 mAh and can stand quite good: 450 hours in standby and 7 hours talk time in 2G mode. You can use the phone about 1 and a half day, time which you won’t regret because the Xperia S impresses you in every moment.
In conclusion I can say about the Sony Xperia S that it’s a compact smartphone, made from good quality materials and with a 4.3 inches display which behave very good in sun light conditions. It will be the Android users liking, ideal for those who want a good camera, sound quality with xLoud or high speed internet browsing.
