HTC One S, winner of the family

HTC One S

The HTC One S is the second-born brother from HTC One series. It’s hard to be a second-born child it is the same at phone. You can’t mess with your bigger brother who is more advanced than you and also you can’t get the attention on you because your little brother is more adorable. Nevertheless the One S has managed to get a prize this year. It was voted the “Social media phone” in 2012.

The One S is sturdy and it is slim almost like the Razr, it has 7.8 mm. is that slim because it has a unibody housing and is almost entirely made from metal. The display is SuperAmoled and it has 4.3 inches and 16 million colors with a resolution of 540×960 pixels and 256ppi pixel density; it’s protected by Gorilla Glass screen and with the metal housing is making a rough phone.

Behind the phone it is the primary camera which is having a blue or red contour, depending by the phone color. The 8mp camera with BSI sensor has autofocus and LED flash and its main features are: simultaneous HD video recording and image recording, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. It can record 1080p videos with stereo sound and it has video stabilization. On the One S has a secondary video call camera, but it’s only VGA, and it has touch sensitive controls. By the way the One S supports only microSIM.

The HTC One S come out of the box with Android OS version 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich and it will upgraded to version 4.1 Jelly Bean. The user interface is customized by HTC with HtcSense UI which I like it very much.

Among its features we find a function for car. When using the phone in the car you can switch to car function and the phone displays only important icons in landscape mode. They are big enough to see and touch them easily. HTC has integrated Sound Hound in the FM radio application and in music player. When you are listening a song you can press the dedicated Sound Hound button and it will tell you the artists name from the current song. The phone has Beats Audio support, TV-out via MHL a/V link, FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support and dedicated microphone with active noise cancellation.

The phone has a Krait dual core processor at 1.7 MHz based on Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A chipset. The GPU has the new Adreno 225 which is very powerful; it can be compared with Mali400. It has 1GB RAM and 1GB ROM; its internal memory is 16GB (2GB for apps and 10GB for storage) without the possibility to expand via SDcard. The One S has compass, accelerometer, proximity, light and gyro (found on few phones) sensors.

Its battery lasts about two and a half days of normal use. It is a lithium-polymer battery with 1650 mAh. The One S is a compact smartphone which can easily fit in your pocket. It has 130.5x65x7.8 mm and 119.5g.

The HTC One S is a phone which leaves a good impression, has an excellent appearance and it is very fast and smooth and with a quite good camera.
